Your Guide to Superman The Movie (1978)
Friday Apr 15, 2022
Friday Apr 15, 2022
In 1978 the man of steel took the world by storm with his charming heroism and American values. Before then, comic books and comic book movies were considered campy children's stories. Richard Donner, along with an Academy Award-winning cast, proved a comic story could seriously captivate audiences. Earning three Academy Award nominations, along with a special win for Visual Effects, the superhero genre would never be the same again. But how does it hold up 43 years later now that Marvel has set the template for modern superhero movies? Join Corbin as he dons his red cape to guide you through the production, behind-the-scenes drama, box-office, and impact of Superman The Movie! Subscribe to the podcast so you won't miss the full review coming next Monday!

Release the Snyder Cut! For the past few years, that is the cry many fans have rallied around as the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) seemingly fell into shambles. With the poor theatrical reception of Batman v Superman, Suicide Squad, and finally Justice League it seemed the DCEU was finished before it got started. With the director and brainchild of the DCEU, Zach Snyder, leaving the film before he finished it due to personal tragedy, his vision was never complete. Nearly four years after the theatrical cut left a sour taste in (most) audiences' mouths, thanks to HBO Max, Synder was able to re-cut, re-mix, and finally finish his ultimate vision for Justice League. Join Corbin as he reviews the film to find out if it is the superior version!
Question after the show: Was the Snyder Cut worth the wait?

One year after the BvS theatrical letdown and the surprising R rated home release, fans got the Justice League movie they had be waiting for...right? Well, not exactly, despite this movie being officially attributed as a Zach Snyder film, he had to step away from the project due to personal tragedy, Danny Elfman came in to compose a new score, and Joss Whedon wrote a new draft of the script along with taking over the director's chair (and not to mention the usual suspect...studio interference). Is this 2 hour, re-shot version a garbled, kid-friendly mess or is it DC's answer to a family friendly superhero flick? Or is it both? Join Corbin as he reviews Joss Whedon's Justice League to find out before his review of Zach Snyder's Justice League tomorrow!
Question after the show: Is this a good version for kid's and families or is it perfectly suitable for adults?

Join Corbin as he embarks on a mini-movie review series leading up to Zack Snyder's Justice League! Today he takes a look at the two very different versions of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and how opinion of this movie may be different if Snyder was allowed to release his 3 hour cut theatrically.
Question after the show: Is the Ultimate Edition a superior version to the Theatrical Cut?

3 years after audiences were begging for a sequel to Batman Begins, Christopher Nolan brought his vision of the dark knight and the clown prince of crime to the big screen. In the interim, audiences did get their Nolan fix albeit it in a mediocre performing period piece about warring magicians, but no one saw coming how massive a success The Dark Knight would be! Raking in over 1 billion dollars at the world-wide box office, at the time this was Nolan's biggest budget, widest release, greatest critical acclaim, biggest opening weekend and it garnered eight Academy Award nominations! Today, IMDb members have rated this the 4th greatest film of all time! But, 12 years later, does this dark take on the caped crusader hold up or has the cultural phenomenon worn off? Join Corbin and Allen as they review The Dark Knight to find out!
Join the discussion-Comment below! Question after the show: Is The Dark Knight your favorite Batman film? Why or why not?
