Audiences had to wait 4 agonizing years for the conclusion to the Dark Knight trilogy. And you, dear listeners, had to wait 9 weeks since we reviewed The Dark Knight! Finally, Christopher Nolan returned to bring a (hopefully) satisfactory end to Bruce Wayne aka the Batman. Nolan did have intense pressure to make this a great film, considering The Dark Knight is considered one of the best films ever made and one of the highest grossing. So will the Dark Knight trilogy be considered Nolan's best work and one of the greatest trilogies of all time thanks to this film? 3 years after audiences were begging for a sequel to Batman Begins, Christopher Nolan brought his vision of the dark knight and the clown prince of crime to the big screen. In the interim, audiences did get their Nolan fix albeit it in a mediocre performing period piece about warring magicians, but no one saw coming how massive a success The Dark Knight would be! Raking in over 1 billion dollars at the world-wide box office, at the time this was Nolan's biggest budget, widest release, greatest critical acclaim, biggest opening weekend and it garnered eight Academy Award nominations! Today, IMDb members have rated this the 4th greatest film of all time! But, 12 years later, does this dark take on the caped crusader hold up or has the cultural phenomenon worn off? 3 years after the soft success of the murder-mystery remake of Insomnia, Nolan approached Warner Brothers with his idea of doing a Batman film. Considering Insomnia was produced by Warner Bros. and Nolan heard rumors they were looking to reboot the franchise after the abysmal Batman & Robin--the young director thought he could do it. Being Nolan's most expensive and highest profile film at the time--he had a lot to lose. Well...the rest is history folks. Batman Begins officially set Nolan on the map as the next greatest director of our time and thankfully his film scrubbed the bad taste out of everyone's mouth by bringing the caped crusader back into audiences good graces. 15 years later does the 7th theatrically released Batman film bring back all the nostalgia the 10 year old Allen and Corbin felt or is it just a fine installment in the long running series? Join Corbin and Allen as they review Batman Begins to find out!
